PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a customer gathering effect by a method wherein the weight, the price and the like of a commodity and the character broadcast of news, a weather forecast, scores of various games still in progress and the like are displayed selectively on the display of a metering apparatus. SOLUTION: In a metering apparatus, a commodity is metered by a metering device 2, and its weight and its price are displayed on a display 31 and a display 32. In this case, a connection part 7 to which a character broadcast receiver 71 is connected is provided, a readout means 8 which reacts out a character broadcast is provided, and a display control means 62 by which the read-out character broadcast us displayed on the displays 31, 32 when the weight and the price are not displayed is provided.
