PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant crosslinked olefin resin compsn. which is flame-retardant, is free of foaming, and is prevented from being degraded in abrasion resistance, durability, and mechanical strengths by compounding an olefin resin with a metal hydrate, a coupling agent, a crosslinker, a catalyst, and a dispersibility- and/or adhesiveness-imparting agent. SOLUTION: This compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. olefin resin with 80-200 pts.wt. metal hydrate (e.g. magnesium hydroxide), 0.05-20 pts.wt. coupling agent (e.g. vinyltrimethoxysilane), 0.5-10 pts.wt. crosslinker (e.g. an org. peroxide or an azo compd.), 0.5-10 pts.wt. siloxane condensation catalyst (e.g. dibutyltin dilaurate), and 0.05-5 pts.wt. dispersibility- and/or adhesiveness- imparting agent. The olefin resin is selected from among low- or high-density polyethylenes, linear low-density polyethylenes, ethylene copolymers, etc. Examples of the dispersibility- and/or adhesiveness-imparting agent are dipentaerythritol dibasic acid ester and glycerin monostearate.
