PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera that can photograph a character original with high resolution while suppressing the cost increase and can also photograph a natural picture as before. SOLUTION: A main body 100 is provided with an area CCD 202 that photographs a natural picture, a picture processing circuit 104 that processes data of a photographed picture and a selection circuit 8 that intervenes the both. The selection circuit 8 provides the data of a picture photographed by a line CCD 309 to a picture processing circuit 104 in place of the data of the picture photographed by the area CCD 202 in the case that a scanner head 300 is connected to the main body 100 through a cable 7.
