PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method for the discoloration resistance of a blue phosphor, in which the discoloration resistance can be evaluated simply by using a production facility and which can detect a defect due to a discoloration before a cathode-ray tube is manufactured. SOLUTION: The method includes a process in which the slurry of a blue phosphor 2 is manufactured, a process in which as substrate is coated with the slurry of the blue phosphor 2 so as to be dried, a process in which a copper oxide powder 3 is sprinkled on the dried blue phosphor 2, and a process in which the substrate is fired. The size of a discolored region 4 formed on the blue phosphor 2 around the copper oxide powder 3 is measured after the firing operation, and the discoloration resistance of the blue phosphor 2 is evaluated.
