PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an electronic lock system, in which an electronic lock can be locked and released from a remote place by utilizing an existing portable telephone. SOLUTION: In the electronic lock system 2, the telephone number and password code of a portable telephone, in which an electronic lock may also be locked and released, are made to correspond and held beforehand in a memory 21, the telephone number (added to a call set signal at the time of transmission) of the potable telephone of an origin is conformed to the telephone number held in the memory 21 while whether or not the above-mentioned password code transmitted as a push-button signal from the potable telephone 1 of the origin agrees with the above-mentioned password code made to correspond to the telephone number of the portable telephone 1 of the origin and held in the memory 21 is decided by a discriminator 23 when there is reception from the portable telephone 1, and the electronic lock is locked and released by an electronic-lock locking-release equipment 24 when both the telephone number and the above-mentioned password code coincides.
