PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for preventing a failure in paper-setting which can accurately detect a paper skew by two paper sensors alone irrespective of a paper size, and can detect a setting failure at whichever position the paper is set to a tractor. SOLUTION: Right and left paper sensors 9, 10 are respectively set to right and left tractors 3, 4. Although the right and left tractors 3, 4 rotate simultaneously, a position of each tractor can be adjusted right and left individually by a known mechanism. In order to set a paper 1 to the tractors 3, 4, the right and left tractors 3, 4 are moved to conform to a breadth of the paper 1 and tractor pins 3a, 4a of the right and left tractors 3, 4 are engaged with right and left feed holes 6, 7 of the paper 1. After an operator manipulates a switch, the paper is transferred in a take direction and a paper skew is recognized when either of the right and left paper sensors detects the absence of the paper earlier.
