<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type liquid crystal display device which can be enhanced in an yield with a simple construction and improved in display quality without a substantial increase in costs. SOLUTION: Picture electrodes 4 are arranged in a matrix form on a picture element substrate, and also each picture element electrode 4 is provided with a TFT(thin film transistor) 1. A scanning line 2 and a reference potential line 3 each are disposed for each element row aligned in the direction of each TFT line. On a counter electrode, data lines 31 also serving as counter electrodes opposed to each picture element 4 are arranged so as to be orthogonal to the scanning lines 2. And, current-carrying parts 6 for correction are formed, which are partly branched parts of the reference line 3 extended up to the lower part of the picture element electrodes 4. When a defect is incurred on the TFT 1, the picture element defect is corrected by irradiating an intersectional part of a current-carrying part 6 for correction and a picture element electrode 4 with laser light for destroying a lying gate insulating film and short-circuiting the picture element electrode 4 and the reference potential line 3.</p> |
