<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix substrate having a high numerical aperture and also improved contrast. SOLUTION: The active matrix substrate 100 has wiring electrodes 48, a 1st conductive layer 42, an insulating film 44, and a 2nd conductive layer, and has two-terminal type nonlinear elements 40 connected with the wiring electrodes 48, and arranged along the direction intersecting the wiring electrodes 48, and at least one end has a shading layer 52 electrically separated from an adjacent 1st wiring electrode 48a or a 2nd wiring electrode 48b. And, an interlayer insulating film 20 is formed on the surface of the substrate on which the wiring electrode 48, shading layer 52, and two terminal type nonlinear element 40 are formed; picture element electrodes 54 are formed in a predetermined pattern on this interlayer insulating film 20; and the two-terminal type nonlinear elements 40 and the above-mentioned picture element electrodes 54 are connected by electric contacts 24 via contact holes 22 formed on the layer insulating film 20.</p> |
