PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for water pressure testing of a steel pipe capable of drastically and efficiently improving a water pressure test by achieving a simple improvement in a conventional water pressure testing device. SOLUTION: In the water pressure testing method of a steel pipe with a large bore, a spherical object 2 with an outer diameter that is 95% or less of the inner diameter of a steel pipe 1 to be tested and hardness of 50% or less of that of the steel pipe to be tested is filled before injecting test water 3 into the steel pipe 1 to be tested, thus drastically reducing time required for filling the test water in a conventional water pressure-testing device and drastically improving the entire efficiency of a pipe-manufacturing line while the entire efficiency of the pipe-manufacturing line is reduced due to the efficiency of the water pressure test.
