PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide positioning structure and a positioning method for a square canister inside a cylindrical transport container, position the canister favorably inside the transport container. SOLUTION: In a spent fuel transport container 20 by which a radioactive material is stored inside a canister 26 stored sealedly inside a container 21 to transport spent fuel, the canister 26 stored inside the container 21 has a square shape, and a positioning means 27 for positioning and holding the square canister 26 is arranged in positions corresponding to corners of the square shape of the canister 26 inside the container 21.
