PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide absorptive articles, such as throw-away diapers and incontinence pads, which are excellent in a property to prevent the leakage of body fluid, is excellent in air permeability and does not give rise to steaming or a rash. SOLUTION: This absorptive article 1 has a liquid permeable front surface sheet 2, a liquid impermeable rear surface sheet 3 and an absorber interposed between both of these sheets. The article has an abdomen side girth part 5 existing on the wearer's abdomen side at the time of wearing and a back side girth part 5' existing on the back side. At least either of the abdomen side girth part 5 and the back side girth part 5' is provided with a waist barrier consisting of barrier backing paper. The barrier backing paper has the moisture permeability of 2 to 900 sec/300 ml×32 sheets and is hydrophilic. The bulk softness of the paper is 10 to 100 cN, the weighting capacity thereof is 14 to 60 g/m2 and the Klemm's water absorption height thereof is >=100 mm/10 min.
