PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a barrel apparatus for plating with which uniform plating films are applied on long-sized rod-like parts without providing the apparatus with intricate treatment stages and stable plating work is obtd. SOLUTION: The long-sized rod-like parts slightly shorter than the length of a parts storage tank 16 are fed into a barrel 1 of a cylindrical shape shorter in the bore of the cross section than the length of the parts storage tank 16. Many through- ports 19 are formed on the cylinder forming surface 18 of this barrel 1 from the position apart by a prescribed distance to the central side from the end of the parts storage tank 16. Since this barrel apparatus for plating for the long-sized rod-like parts is formed to a shape having no through-ports 19 up to the prescribed position from both end wall surfaces of the parts storage tank 16 and is fixed with a plurality of electrode members 37 on the inner side of the cylinder forming surface 18, the damage of lead wires does not occur and the plating defect, such as discoloration of the rod-like parts, does not occur either. Further, there are no through-ports at both ends of the parts storage tank 16 and, therefore, if the plating thickness at the centers of the long-sized rod-like parts is regulated to a set thickness, the plating thicknesses at both ends are made nearly equal to the plating thickness at the centers of the rod-like parts and the plating films of the uniform thickness may be obtd. over the entire parts of the rod-like parts.
