PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure excellent electrostrictive characteristics by preparing solid soln. ceramics having a compsn. obtd. by allowing a specified amt. of PbTiO3 as a simple perovskite type compd. to enter into solid soln. in Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3 as a composite pervoskite type compd. and having a single phase of perovskite. SOLUTION: The electrostrictive ceramics is solid soln. ceramics having a compsn. obtd. by allowing 26-34 mol.% PbTiO3 as a simple perovskite type compd. to enter into solid soln. in Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3 as a composite perovskite type compd. and having a single phase of perovskite. Lead oxide, nickel oxide, niobium oxide and titanium oxide are mixed in a prescribed ratio by wet mixing or other method, molded with a die press or the like and heated in the air at 850-1,000 deg.C for 0.5-2 hr. Unreacted substances are dissolved in an acidic aq. soln. such as a 1N aq. acetic acid soln. and formed particles are separated by filtration or other method, molded in a prescribed shape with a die press or the like and fired in an atmosphere of lead oxide at 1,100-1,300 deg.C for 0.5-2 hr to obtain a sintered body having >=90% relative density as the solid soln. ceramics. |
