<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new acrylic acid derivative having an excellent antifungal potency for agriculture and horticulture and useful for controlling rice blast, wheat powdery mildew, wheat brown rust, etc. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R1 is a (substituted) alkyl or the like; R2 is chlorine or the like; R3 is a (substituted) alkyl; one of T, U and V is CR4 group; one of the others is CH group or the like; and the remainder of the others is CR5 group or the like; W is CR44 or the like; R4, R5 and R44 are each H or the like; X is O or the like; Y is O; but when X is S, the group R1 is not an alkyl], for example, methyl 2-[5-(1-benzyloxyiminoethyl)-2- methylphenoxy]-3-chloroacrylate. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by halogenating a compound of formula II for example, methyl 2-[5-(1-benzyloximinoethyl)-2-methylphenoxy]-3-hydroxyacrylate} with a halogenating agent such as a carbon tetrachloride-triphenylphosphine mixture.</p> |
