PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deodorant having an excellent deodorization effect and safety by incorporating porous charcoal or tourmaline ore therein. SOLUTION: This deodorant contains the porous charcoal or tourmaline ore and, for example, the deodorant in the form of powder is used. For example, charcoal of bamboo is used as the charcoal. The powder of the charcoal of the bamboo is obtd. by dry distilling the bamboo and forming this bamboo in the form of the powder. The particles of the resulted powder are porous materials having gaps extremely more than general porous materials. The tourmaline ore has a crystal structure of a hexagonal system. The tourmaline ore is a polar crystalline body and has a property to generate electric polarization even when the ore is not placed in an electric field as in cases of general dielectrics. The tourmaline ore has such a synergistic effect that the deodorization effect of the bamboo charcoal may be semipermanently maintained when both are mixed.
