The invention relates to a method and a device for rolling hot strips, especially a steel strip having different widths, between working rolls that can be thermally influenced in certain areas to regulate the strip profile depending on longitudinal stress distribution or thickness distribution on the strip width. The invention is characterized in that the temperature of the working rolls in the area directly adjacent to the strip edges and not covered by the strip is regulated at a temperature corresponding at least to the temperature of the working rolls that are covered and heated by the strip, wherein temperature of the working rolls is regulated with the aid of a computer model present in the rolling mill for operating the latter, said computer model additionally calculating the actual amount of heat being transferred to the working rolls at any given moment during rolling independent of different known measured rolling parameters such as strip width, values of the materials, draughts, roll speed, rolling stock temperature and roll cooling and the result thereof is used for regulating the temperature in the edge areas of the working rolls which are to be regulated. The invention is characterized by cross-field inductors (5) used as induction heating devices whose induction coils (5) partially encompass the working rolls (1, 2).
