A method for flexible creation of audio/video presentations by editing together extracts from pre-existing and stored material in a memory device such as an optical disc. A series of audio, video and/or graphics clips (Clip 1-5) are extracted from storage as a single presentation item and applied to a single reference time-line (T). Respective presentation pathways are derived for the different components identifying for sections along the time-line (T) the clip supplying that component.
