A brake device for cars comprising a motor for moving a car and a battery as a power source wherein the regenerative braking force of the motor is maximall y produced. A required braking force (BO) is defined by BO = BFO + BRO - BFm where BM is the regenerative braking force produced by the motor, BB is the braking force corresponding to the amount of fed electricity acceptable by t he battery, BFO is the braking force on the driven wheel side according to the amount of braking operation, BRO is the braking force on the driving wheel side, and BFm is the requisite minimum of braking force on the driven wheel side. Control is made as follows: the regenerative braking force (BM) of the motor is set at BM when BBBM, and at BB when BB < BM. When BMBO, the brak ing force on the driven wheel side is set at BFm and the braking force of the motor is set at BO. When BM < BO, the braking force is set at BFm, the regenerative force of the motor is set at BM, and for the shortage, the braking mechanism of the car compensates for the braking force. |
