The present invention relates to a liquid transport device comprising a reservoir and a liquid conduit comprising an inlet and an outlet, wherein the inlet is connected to the reservoir, wherein the device further comprises a membrane hermetically sealed to the conduit in the region of the outlet, the membrane being liquid permeable and having an average pore size not greater than 100 micrometers and a thickness of less than 1 mm. The invention further relates to the use of the liquid transport device for the irrigation of plants.
