SINGLE FACER PREHEATER

A single facer including a preheater (28) for conditioning a paperboard web (24). The preheater (28) is positioned upstream from the corrugating nip and includes an arcuate surface (26) facing the web. A plurality of primary channels (82) are disposed internally within the preheater (28) in thermal communication with the arcuate surface (26). High pressure steam is supplied to the primary channels (82) for heating the arcuate surface. A plurality of outlet ports (98) extend within the preheater (28) and are in fluid communication with the heated arcuate surface (26). Low pressure steam is released through the plurality of outlet ports (98) thereby producing a steam film between the heated arcuate surface (26) and the paperboard web.
