A device for practising an inspection method for a filter rod for a cigarette, which is provided with an inspection drum (6) formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof with a plurality of take-out grooves (8) for receiving filter rods (F) one each, wherein a filter rod (F) in each take-out groove (8) is given a rolling force by a rolling guide (10) as a result of the rotation of the inspection drum (6) and passes through an irradiated area (B) by light. A part to be shielded by a filter rod (F) in the irradiated area (B) varies if the filter rod (F) has a enough rolling force, a varying shielded part indicating that the filter rod (F) is acceptable and being used for the decision of an inspection.
