The present invention relates to a fixture and a grinding machine for grinding buttons of a rock drill bit. The fixture (18) comprises means (20, 25, 26) for holding the drill bit in a horizontal plane in a correct position relative to a grinding cup (51). The fixture comprises a linkage (24) consisting of at least two arms (25, 26). The arms (25, 26) are mutually joined by a first vertical hinge (27) wherein a second arm (26) is movably secured in a machine stand (23). A locking means (45) is provided to lock two arms (25, 26) simultaneously. During use operative peripheries of the arms to be locked are held at a substantially constant distance from each other.
