<p>Adhesives comprises a mixt. of an adhesive (e.g. a starch or cellulose derivature) and a dispersed hydrophobic material such as a wax to modify the cohesive strength of the adhesive. Products are esp. useful as wallpaper adhesives allowing easy removal of the paper when necessary, without soaking with water as with normal adhesives. Suitable waxes are paraffin, mineral-, vegetable or synthetic waxes, fatty alcohols, fatty acid, fatty esters, polyethylene glycol stearate, metal stearates, metal soaps, esp. of Al, Mg or Ca, cetyl and stearyl alcohols, etc. The wax is pref. added as an emulsion to a dispersion of the adhesive, using a ratio of hydrophobic material : adhesive of 20:80 to 80:20 (esp. 40:60-70:30).</p> |
