The X-ray imaging device has a C-frame (1) with an X-ray source (2) and a detector (3) at opposite ends supported by a linkage arm (5), with a control unit (10) for controlling the relative movement of the co-operating parts (7) of the linkage arm, for positioning the C-frame. The control unit is coupled to signal wave transmission and reception devices (14-17), for defining different straight lines (13) along which the C-frame is displaced via the coordinated movement of the linkage arm.
