Spinal implant for use with linking rod to treat fractures and correct deformities

The implant has one end (120) shaped for fixing to a vertebra and the other made with a slot (111) to receive a rod (200) joining it to other implants. The slot is between two branches (112, 113) in the upper part of the implant which have outer threaded surfaces (118, 119) to receive a fixing nut (130). One of the branches has an inclined surface (114) and an inner projection (116), and the rod is forced past the projection by the elastic flexibility of the branches to reach the bottom (117) of the slot. The rod is then held in the slot while the nut is fitted or removed.
