<p>Perfume compsns. contain 7,8-epoxy-1,3,3,11-tetramethyl-tricyclo 5,4,0,02,4 undecane (I) mixed with other perfumes, essential oils and/or fixatives, and have a patchouli-like odour. (I) may be prepd. by oxidising 1,3,3,11-tetramethyltricyclo 5,4,0,02,4 -7-undecene with a peracid, e.g. perphthalic, perbenzoic or peracetic acid in the presence of NaOAc buffer.</p> |
