The peg is made from a single piece of wood with a point (3) at one end and a slit (1) at the other controlled by a fabric ring (2). The four corners of a towel, pareo or similar fabric article can be fixed in the slits of four pegs, which are pushed into the sand to keep it in place. The fabric can have a cord threaded through its hem which can be pulled to make it into a bag for carrying articles used on the beach.
