The bolt described can be used for connection of medullary pins, osteosynthesis plates, prostheses or the like with a bone or for stabilisation of bone fragments. The bolt comprises a head (1) and a barrel (2). The barrel is essentially smooth and, in particular, it does not have a screw thread, barb or other large projections. As a result of this, the osseous tisse is uniformly loaded and resorption can be avoided. The barrel preferably has a cross-sectional surface that is not rotationally symmetrical, so that twisting of the inserted bolt is prevented.
