An inner mantle (5) extends from the top end of the cyclone to an area below the inlet (1), forming a ring-shaped channel (6) in between the inner and outer mantles. A helical flange (7) inside the channel has a width essentially equal to the radial distance between the inner and outer mantles, causing an upwards spiral flow of the medium from the inlet. An opening (8) cast in the top part of the inner mantle creates a passage between the channel and the region inside the inner mantle. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A cyclone with an outer mantle (4), used in e.g. the pulp industry for separation of components in a medium, contains an inlet for the medium, a first outlet (2) for one separated component, and a second outlet (3) for a second separated component. The inlet is positioned at a distance of 30-70 % of the cyclone length from the top end of the cyclone. An inner mantle extends from the top end of the cyclone to an area below the inlet, forming a ring-shaped channel in between the inner and outer mantles. A helical flange inside the channel has a width essentially equal to the radial distance between the inner and outer mantles, causing an upwards spiral flow of the medium from the inlet. An opening cast in the top part of the inner mantle creates a passage between the channel and the region inside the inner mantle. |
