PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a fixing part from being cooled by air for cooling and to reduce the power consumption of the heat source of the fixing part by detecting a time when the leading edge of a transfer material is passed through a fixing means and the trailing edge thereof is passed through a cooling means and controlling the action of the cooling means according to the detected passing time of the transfer material. SOLUTION: An air blowing device 7 for cooling is arranged near the downstream side of the fixing part 6 and the action of a fan motor 7a is controlled by a microcomputer 12. By the microcomputer 12, a control command is given to the motor 7a based on a detection signal outputted from paper sensors 10 and 11 detecting the passing of the transfer paper P. That means, the sensors 10 and 11 are arranged back and forth in the carrying direction of the paper P by interposing the fixing part 6. When the leading edge of the paper P is passed through the sensor 10, the command is given to the motor 7a by the microcomputer 12. When the trailing edge of the paper P is passed through the sensor 11, the stop command is given to the motor 7a by the microcomputer 12. That means, a space between the sensors 10 and 11 is regarded as a prescribed section and the action of the motor 7a is controlled while the paper P is passed through there. |
