[Also in Division C7] A method of after-treatment of a metal coating on a metal having a tendency to form cracks in the deposited metal due to the difference in the expansion coefficient or in the elastic limit of the deposited metal and the base metal comprises applying a jet stream of glass beads on to said deposited metal to improve the adhesiveness and corrosion proof properties of the coated metal. The metal coating may be aluminium or cadmium. An article is plated with aluminium in a molten bath and then placed in distilled water, bath composition remaining in the cracks being driven off ultrasonically. After drying, a jet of glass beads having a grain size 80-150 microns is applied through a nozzle for 5-30 sees. under a pressure of 0À5-1À5 Kg/cm<SP>2</SP>, the nozzle being 100 mm. from the surface. |
