摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel-cadmium battery separator that does not suffer from chemical or electrochemical damages, even if charging and discharging are repeated by using a nonwoven fabric which includes a high melting point polyamide fiber as a main fiber and is formed by using a polyolefin core sheath fiber and a low melting point polyamide fiber as an adhesive fiber. SOLUTION: A polyolefin core sheath fiber includes polypropylene as a core material and low melting point polyethylene as an sheath material, and 5-40 wt.% of it is used. The nonwoven fabric is manufactured by a wet-type papermaking method and each fiber is cleaned by an aqueous solution containing 10 wt.% or less of potassium hydroxide in advance. A corona discharge surface treatment is carried out to the non-woven fabric after the wet-type papermaking and after the treatment, it is immersed in an aqueous solution containing an inorganic salt and/or a surface active agent. The inorganic salt is potassium hydroxide or lithium hydroxide, and its concentration is in the range of 0.1-5 wt.%. The concentration of the surface active agent is in the range of 0.1-10 wt.%. A long service life papermaking separator can be provided by having it pass between precisely temperature-controlled hot rolls.
