PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detector which can detect radiation in an environment which is at a temperature higher than the heatproof temperature of a wavelength shift fiber. SOLUTION: A radiation detector D has a scintillator 1, a first light guide 4, a wavelength shift fiber 5 penetrating the first light guide 4, and a second light guide 2 interposed between the scintillator 1 and the first light guide 4. Since the scintillator 1 and second light guide 2 are formed of a material with heatproof temperature higher than that of the wavelength shift fiber 5, the scintillator 1 can be exposed to an environment of temperature higher than the heatproof temperature of the wavelength shift fiber 5, while the wavelength shift fiber 5 is kept in an environment which is not higher than the heatproof temperature thereof.
