PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute a program to be broadcast by digital satellite broadcasting to plural cable television networks at a low cost by converting a digital multi-channel service signal distributed from a center station through a satellite line for cable transmission and distributing the signal to plural pieces of reception terminal equipments. SOLUTION: In this information distribution system, a center station 1 distributes the digital multi-channel service signal through the satellite line. Plural cable television stations 31 -3n receive the digital multi-channel service signal transmitted from the center station 1 through the satellite line and the received digital multi-channel service signal is converted to a digital multi-channel service signal for cable transmission by a modulation/conversion means and sent to respective own cable television networks 41 -4n . Plural pieces of reception terminal equipment 511 -5nm receive the digital multi-channel service signal distributed from the cable television stations 31 -3n through the cable television networks 41 -4n .
