PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for applying a soln. having a prescribed viscosity on a photosensitive material, such as a photographic print, and a method therefor. SOLUTION: The photosensitive material is passed through the inside of a tank 9 in this apparatus and method. Guide members 21 disposed in the tank 9 are effective for guiding the viscous soln. near the nip part 19 between first and second rollers. According to such constitution, at least one liquid reservoir is formed near the nip part 19 between the rollers, by which the uniform coating application of the soln. on the photosensitive material is made possible and simultaneously the upper roller of the drive rollers is held at a uniformly wetted state.
