PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ionization chamber detector having extremely satisfactory energy characteristic. SOLUTION: An outside electrode and a cover of this ionization chamber detector are formed of aluminum, and nitrogen gas mixed with a small amount of argon gas is used as a filled gas. When a total of thicknesses of the outside electrode and cover is 6 mm, the argon gas is mixed by 2-4 mol.%. An increase in thickness of the aluminum is coped with by increasing the concentration of the argon gas. Krypton gas or xenon gas may be used being switched from the argon gas.
