PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent base for an image material of a resin coated paper type which is excellent in the glossy feel in the appearance of a print, adhesiveness, film deposition characteristic, oxygen permeability and center line average height which are important characteristics as the base for the image material and which is free from problem in operation. SOLUTION: This base for the image material is formed by using the paper consisting essentially of natural pulp as a main material and coating at least one surface of the base material with a resin layer. In such a case, the resin layer on the side to be provided with an image forming layer is a biaxially stretched polyester resin layer. After a sub-coating layer is imparted at the time of stretching to at least the image forming layer side surface of the biaxially stretched polyester resin layer, the side of the resin layer on the side opposite to the sub-coating layer and the base material are laminated, by which the base for the image material is obtd. |
