PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a partial discharge monitoring device for an electric rotating machine which improves reliability, can give simplified and small-sized constitution and improves S/N ratio. SOLUTION: A single current transformer 1 detects a current signal corresponding to a partial discharge in a coil of an electric rotating machine being an object to be monitored and a polarity judgment of a positive/negative partial discharge is carried out based on a signal processed by an analog processing circuit carrying out a signal processing such that a detection signal of 1 becomes a signal in which a statistical analysis should be effective at the maximum. Statistical processing is carried out by a statistical algorithm. When a correlation coefficient of a normalized partial discharge representative phase distribution and a normalized partial discharge actually measured phase distribution is operated, a predetermined correlation coefficient formula for evaluating the partial discharge phase distribution.
