The transmission consists of one transmission (T1) of a vee belt (3) between a driving pulley (1) and the first pulley (2) of an intermediate pulley, a transmission (T2) of a vee belt (6) between the second pulley (4) of the intermediate pulley and the pulley (5) fitted to the input shaft (7) of a reduction gearbox (8) with an output shaft (9). The speed variation is provided by the intermediate pulley by its displacement (F1) and the axial variation in position of an intermediate inverted vee shaped disc (10). The gearbox is mounted onto the chassis by a spring (12) so that it can oscillate about the axis of the output shaft (9) in a sense opposed to the output shaft when subjected to a reaction torque.
