PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand an allowable space area for the read/write operations in a noncontact system and to improve the operability of an IC card reader/ writer by using one of plural antennas which are provided on the IC card reader/writer. SOLUTION: A housing 1 of an IC card reader/writer is mounted on a pedestal 2 which is placed within a fixed distance set from a traveling path of vehicles. The antennas 1A to 1C which are provided on each face of the housing 1 are used different from each other according to the types of passing vehicles. For instance, the antenna 1A which is provided on the side face of the housing 1 and most approximate to the side face of a sedan etc., having shot height. Meanwhile, the antenna IC provided on the top face of the housing 1 is used to an RV vehicle, a bus, a truck, etc., having large height. The antenna provided on the back of the housing 1 is active when an IC card is shown too quickly. Then the antenna 1B provided on the front of the housing 1 is active to transmit and receive the radio waves when the antenna 1A cannot satisfactorily transmit and receive the radio waves since the vehicles pass too fast. |
