LIGHT SELECTIVE PRISM AND PROJECTION TYPE DISPLAY DEVICE USING IT, AND MANUFACTURE OF LIGHT SELECTIVE PRISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a characteristic of a light selective prism by continuously forming one of two light selective films without being split at a crossing point, and improving a characteristic of this light selective prism in the neighborhood of approximately X-formed crossing part. SOLUTION: On the junction planes constituted of the sides of four pillar- shaped prisms 261 to 264 (rectangular prisms), a red reflection coating 266R and a blue reflection coating 266B are formed approximately in a form like a character X. The red reflection coating 266R is continuously formed without being divided at the crossing position of the two reflection coatings. The blue reflection coating 266B is divided into two by the red reflection coating 266R and an adhesive 267. Moreover, it is desirable that the four pillar-shaped prisms 261 to 264 are made of one sheet of plate glass.
