PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove inefficiency relating to repaging at the time of switching Z access and related color access by using separated Z buffers. SOLUTION: A memory controller receives a hatch of a Z coordinate and a pixel color and compares the Z-coordinate data of the batch with existing Z-coordinate data stored in a frame buffer memory here to judge whether or not new pixels of batches relating to the compared Z coordinate should be written to the frame buffer memory. When the result of the Z comparison test passes, the new pixel color and Z-coordinate data are put in a queue. After the Z coordinates of all batches are compared, pixel colors relating to Z coordinates having passed the comparison are written to the frame buffer memory. Thus, the process is performed, batch by batch, so the overhead of repaging is reducible.
|
