PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber amplifier for which signal and exciting light sources are formed into a single unit. SOLUTION: This optical fiber amplifier is provided with a Fabry-Perot type semiconductor laser element 1 that is a light-emitting element with a wide spectrum, a fiber grating 2 with a diffraction grating for reflecting only a wavelength of a signal light region that can be amplifier by an optical fiber amplifier, an in-line isolator 3 with a high isolation at the same wavelength region as that of the signal light, and an optical fiber 4 for inducing and amplifying the signal light. The optical amplifier in this configuration is constituted by a Fabry-Perot type semiconductor laser element 1, in which a signal light source 8 for transmitting signal light and an exciting light source for exciting the signal light are equal. Therefore, by inducing and amplifying the signal light from the same light-emitting element, the optical fiber can be miniaturized, the cost can be reduced, and NF characteristics can be improved. |
