PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage battery superior in life performance and reliability by eliminating the problem that an electrode pole is corroded by the accumulation of an electrolytic solution between the electrode pole and a through-hole and battery capacity is degraded by the leakage of an adhesive into the battery. SOLUTION: After an electrode pole 1 is inserted into a through-hole 4 of a lid 2, an annular fitting member 8 is fitted onto the electrode pole 1, and then the fitting member 8 is pressed downward while heating it, and a gap 6 is so sealed as to weld the fitting member 8 to the through-hole 4 and position the lower end of the fitting member lower than the lower surface of the through- hole 4. According to this method, since the gap between the through-hole and the electrode pole is filled with the fitting member, and the fitting member and the electrode pole are fitted tightly together, an electrolytic solution will not stay or the electrode pole will not corrode. In addition, since the fitting member is welded to the lid, and the fitting member and the electrode pole are tightly fitted together, the adhesive never leaks into the battery. |
