PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surveying machine that is capable of focusing quickly and accurately and has improve operability in the automatic focus detection surveying machine such as a total station. SOLUTION: An automatic focus detection surveying machine is provided with a telescope optical system with a group of focus adjustment lenses that travel along a light axis, a prism for allowing an object luminous flux through a group of focus adjustment lenses 115 to branch from the above telescope optical system on a branch surface, and an AF sensor module 105 for receiving the object luminous flux that is allowed to branch by the prism. The automatic focus detection surveying machine is also provided with an index member 125 that is located outside a telescope optical system light path in a group of focus adjustment lenses 115 and a reflection mirror 103 that can travel between a position for guiding luminous flux from the above prism to the AF sensor module 105 and a position for guiding luminous flux from the index member 125 to the AF sensor module 105 between the above prism and the AF sensor module 105. |
