PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication protocol which can be operated mutually with a vehicle user interface via a central controller by a method wherein a central processing unit selects one out of a plurality of transmission protocols used to transmit interface data on the basis of a data type related partially to the interface data. SOLUTION: A navigation computer 202 receives inputs from various sources which include a running range finder 204, a gyroscope 206, a GPS satellite 208 and a map database medium 210 for the purpose of executing a navigation function such as a route computing function, a route guide function or the like. In addition, a vehicle environment part 200 contains a vehicle controller 214, a cellular telephone 216, a vehicle audio system 218 and a user interface 212. Then, the computer 202 selects one out of a plurality of transmission protocols used to transmit interface data on the basis of a data type related partially to the interface data, and it transmits the selected transmission protocol to the vehicle controller 214 via a communication link 220. |
