PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an excessive force from being imposed on a timing flag and a peripheral part of a characteristic detecting flag for a long time by preventing the timing flag and the characteristics detecting flag, that are arranged at an intermediate transfer belt, from standing still at a part where the intermediate transfer belt and a component member (photosensitive drum and cleaning member) abut on the intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: When the rotation of the intermediate transfer belt 6 is stopped, the detecting information of a detecting hole 18 on the belt 6 obtained by sticking a seal 19 for preventing leakage to the surface thereof detected by an optical sensor 15 is inputted to a controller 17. By the controller 17, the stop of the rotation driving of the driving motor 16 of a driving roller 16 is controlled based on the inputted detecting information so that the hole 18 is prevented from standing still at the part where the belt 6 and the photosensitive drum 1 are made to abut on each other (near a primary transfer part). Thus, since the unnatural force is prevented from being imposed because the hole 18 is bent by the abutting part, the performance of the hole 18 is prevented from being deteriorated. |
