PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the restriction of the shape of an ultraviolet irradiating device and save space by forming a dielectric into a sheet-like flexible body, enclosing an electromagnetic induction coil and a filler in the dielectric and to form a discharge space in it. SOLUTION: A dielectric 2 contains an electromagnetic induction coil 4 and a filler 5 and forms a sheet-like flexible body, using glass wool or polyimide resin as a material. Several Torrs of argon gas for emitting light by being excited with a magnetic field G, a filler of mercury vapor of several milli-Torrs to tens of milli-Torrs are sealed in a discharge space 3, and titanium oxide is applied to the surface of the dielectric 2. When a high-frequency current (i) is applied to the electromagnetic induction coil 4 from a high-frequency power supply device 7 installed outside, mercury atoms in the discharge space 3 are excited by the magnetic field G given by the electromagnetic induction coil 4 and emits UV-rays, so that sterilization of liquid or gas is carried out. Thereby, the restriction of the shape is eliminated, and various kinds of shapes can easily be applied to. |
