The test system includes a first reception drilling (52) with a predetermined desired-phase angle relative to the cams (6A-6F), a carrying system (12,14) for supporting the cam shaft (4) in a horizontal position, and a clamping system (3) for fixing at least one reference cam (6C) of the camshaft (4) in a predetermined angle. It also includes a first testing system (5) for testing an actual setting of the first reception drilling of the cam shaft, and thereby testing for a phase angle deviation of the cam shaft. A n Independent claim is included for a method of inspecting the phase angle deviation of the camshaft.
