Preparation of 2-phenyl-4-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-6- (4-alkoxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triazines (I) comprises reacting o-hydroxybenzamide (II) with a 4-alkoxybenzoyl chloride (III) at 70-180 degrees C and then reacting the intermediate 2-(4-alkoxyphenyl)-4-oxo-4H-1,3-benzoxazine (IV) with benzamidine (V) at 50-80 degrees C.
